The treasures it holds are invaluable. Italian and Flemish schools are represented, and so are French paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries. Walk through the 35 painting rooms and discover works by Courbet, Clouet, Degas, Pissaro and even Renoir. Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Denis and Albert Marquet are all present. Contemporary Art is also a part of the exhibition, with artists like Jean-Jacques Lebel. And Algeria is well represented, especially with Baya and Khadda.
If sculpture is what you like, you will appreciate the galery devoted to works from Paul Belmondo (actor Jean-Paul Belmondo's father), and the like. End your journey in the print room and the library. This incredible catalogue is a testimony to Algiers' taste for art and to the passion the city inspired in various artists. The National Museum of Fine Arts is supported by the Association of Mediterranean museums.
