Pooram means « gathering ». Thrissuris one of the best known and most impressive festivals in Kerala.

Pooram means gathering. Thrissuris one of the best known and most impressive festivals in Kerala. The city is organised around the Vadakkunnathatemple (accessby non-Hindus is forbidden). The statues of thechief godsgo outat duskonelaborately-decoratedelephants, followed by many otherelephantsaccompanied bymahouts, parasols, etc.Afternightfall, fireworks are set off. It is anunmissableshow!
Non-Hindus are not permitted to enter the temple,but they can attend the events taking place in the city's streets: processions of elephants adorned with gold, parasol fights, fanfare, etc.
Enjoy this feast that lasts 24 hours!
